Chapter 37 and 38

Chapter 37 - General Scheisskopf
As General Peckem is celebrating his victory in taking over General Dreedle's operation, disaster strikes him. Due to an administrative oversight, Colonel Scheisskopf has been promoted to General and is now Peckem's commanding officer. The first and most important policy change enacted by Scheisskopf is that everyone from now on will march in parades.

Chapter 38 Kid Sister
Following Nately's death, Yossarian refuses to fly any more missions, and carries a gun around the base at all times, for fear that someone will kill him. He is ostracized by all the men during the daytime, because nobody wants to be seen associating with a deserter; but at night every other airman approaches him secretly and wishes him success, even supposedly fearless types such as Havermeyer and Appleby.

Cathcart and Korn send Yossarian to Rome for rest leave, hoping that this will straighten him out. When Yossarian breaks the news of Nately's death to his prostitute, she goes absolutely beserk, attempting with all her strength to kill him. Three or four different times, she pretends to surrender, stop, or grow calm, only to lunge at him unexpectedly again. After a few more attempts, the prostitute's kid sister joins in the murderous melee. Yossarian suffers bruises, cuts, and abrasions, but manages to escape from the apartment. The prostitute attacks him again on the street, at the airport in Rome, and at the airbase in Pianosa. Not knowing what to do, he flies her up in a B-52 to a point behind enemy lines, straps a parachute to her, and drops her out the escape hatch. A few weeks later, the odious Captain Black informs Yossarian with glee that the entire whorehouse was closed down by MP's and the girls thrown into the street.
