The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Grade 7 Review

My favorite classic from this year is The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This book was about 295 pages long and was written by the famous author, Mark Twain. It is a moderately hard book to read, but this is because Mark Twain uses so many descriptive words so that you can get a better feel of how the characters behave. It took place in the 1700's-1800's when slaves were not outlawed yet. Huck Finn, the main character in this novel is a young man with a lot to worry about. In the beginning of the story he lived with a widow named widow Douglas. She was a nice lady that took Huck in because Huck's father was so irresponsible. His father was often drunk and this made him crazy. When he got drunk he would get arrested. Every time he was let free he would get arrested a few days latter. Finally one day Huck's pa brought Huck to his cabin across the river. Huck was treated very badly and he got tired of it. A few days after Huck went to his pa's house he escaped and started down the Mississippi River. He met up with a slave named Jim and that is how their adventures began. Huck Finn is a character that takes into consideration what is going on around him. He comes up with great plans to avoid even worse situations that he is already in. One example of this is when he set up a scene at his pa's cabin that made it look as if he was murdered. This scene made it so that his father wouldn't come after him. Huck's companion, Jim was a character that knew a lot about life, but he didn't know how to read or write. Huck and Jim were two very brave characters that traveled down the Mississippi. They ran into a lot of problems because Jim was black and people suspected him to be a slave. The reason that I liked this book is because it was filled with action and adventure. Every time I turned the page Huck and Jim were in a new problem to face and it never ceased to amaze me how they solved the problem. I never got tired of reading like many other books that I have read this year. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to sit down and really read a good book. It is really enjoyable because I started to understand what life was really like back then. Huck Finn is a character that you will grow to like. He never gives up his journey to try to free Jim from slavery. Other books written by Mark Twain are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Puddn' Head Wilson to name a couple. If you have read either of these books you will probably like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I think that the tale of Huck Finn will last for generations to come because Mark Twain is such a great author. The story of Huck Finn and his companions is a great classic that in my mind will never die.

Grade 6 Review

One of the best books I have read was The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn . This book was about a young boy named Huckleberry who went through many adventures. In this book Huckleberry goes on a journey down a river with an African American man named Jim. Huckleberry Finn is a boy whose father disappeared while he was growing up. Huckleberry then went to live with a woman named Miss Watson. While living with this woman, Huck met Jim. Jim was a slave working for Miss Watson. One day Huck's father shows up and brings Huck to a log cabin where he would live from then on. While Huck's father was outside, he got in an accident and never came back. Huck left and came across Jim. Jim and Huck decide to run away and bring themselves to freedom. Huck and Jim get in many tough situations throughout this novel. In one situation, Huck must lie to village citizens to keep Jim from being caught and possibly killed. For Huck, having Jim around was a great danger. If Jim is seen, both Jim and Huck could be killed. Huck and Jim return to the cabin to see if there were any supplies that they could use . Jim then sees a dead man in the corner of the cabin but would not let Huck see the man. Jim realized who the man was and knew that the truth of who it was could hurt Huck. I liked this book because it was full of suspense. This book was wonderful and I recommend it to all young adults. This book was the best book I have read in a long time. This novel was very interesting and packed with adventure. If you ever are looking for a good classic to read, pick up The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , and I guarantee that you wont put it down until you're done.

Grade 6 Review

The book I read was called The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, sequel to the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer . Huckleberry Finn is an orphan with a father. What I mean is that his father is never in one place. He really doesn't care for Huck. Huck's friend, Tom Sawyer, has a wild imagination. Huck joined a gang called the Tom Sawyer gang. As you can guess Tom was the leader. The gang did things like rob Sunday school picnics. They had to do other things to become members of the gang. Some of the plans never took form as I said Tom had a wild imagination. They debated letting Huck in the gang, but they let him in because he promised to do the initiation act. So, Huck was in the gang. Soon after Huck found his dad's footprint. It turned out his dad was in town to claim money Huck found in the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer . His dad took Huck to a cabin in the woods. Where he held him captive Because Huck had given the money to a judge. Huck's father wanted it, but since Huck gave away the money the father was trying to steal it from the judge. After a while Huck escaped by sawing through the wall. He found a good canoe that was drifting down stream. He pulled it up shore and hid it so his father wouldn't find it. Then, he took things like coffee, knives, fishing line, matches, candles, and food. So, he had everything ready for his departure. He found a wild boar and killed it. He took the blood and and spread it on the house like he killed himself. After that, he set sail. He went to an island called Jackson island. He didn't even know that a runaway slave was at the island his name was Jim. They had gone down the river on a raft. The both of them had many adventures. For example, they met up with these two men that said they were a duke and a king. They stayed with them for many chapters. This book was a little hard in the dialect of Jim. Other than that it was a good book. So give it a try. The copy I read was 300 pages.

In he book everyone called him Huck for short. Huck has no mother and his father gets drunk all the time then beats him. In the story Huck meets a slave named Jim. Jim is running away and Huck decides to help him. I really really think that anyone would enjoy this book, it is long and a little hard, it is defenately worth reading. One of the great classics that I read was, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn written by Mark Twain. This book is about a boy named Huck Finn. He was always looking for adventures with the other boys in his neighborhood. One day, Huck's Pap comes home and knows that Huck is rich with about six thousand dollars. Huck has given the money to Judge Thatcher. Huck's Pap takes money from the judge a little at a time, and each time he gets drunk. Then, Huck and his Pap are living in a cabin in the woods, and every time Pap leaves, he locks Huck up in the cabin. After a couple times of being locked up, Huck finds a way to escape by sawing his way out of the cabin. He makes a sceen with an ax and throws stuff around in the cabin to make it look like he had been killed. He runs of with all the goods from the cabin. He goes to Jackson Island on the Mississippi where no one ever goes. He meets up with Miss Watson's slave, Jim, and from there on, Huck and Jim, the slave, are running from the people from the town and meet up with many adventures during the book. The book is very exciting through most of Huck's adventures. But Tom can make it a little frustrating. Tom tries to make the adventures as impossible as he can. One example is when they're trying to free Jim from a cabin that he was locked in. Tom makes Huck and himself dig through the ground with a knife. They were digging for a few days, until Tom finally gave up and let Huck free him the way they did before. Well I don't want to tell the whole book so if your interested in The Adventures of Huck Finn, I definitely recommend this book to you.

Grade 7 Review

The book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a very exciting book. It has a lot of adventure, as you can tell by just reading the title. It is about a boy named Huckleberry Finn. He lives with two elderly ladies who have adopted him. One day he sees a foot print that has a cross in the middle of it. He knows this footprint is his father's. The next night he leaves the house and runs away from the town and his father. He does this unsuccessfully, because his father captures him and takes him to a little hut in the woods. After living there for a few weeks Huck devises a plan to escape from his father, who is very mean to him and often beats him. Huck escapes a few days after that and runs away to Jackson Island in the Mississippi river. He stays there with the slave that was owned by the family that adopted him, but had recently run away for fear of being sold. They hid out there until people began looking for them. Then they started down the Mississippi to Cairo, where they would take the Ohio river up north to the free states where Jim, the slave, could get a job and pay to free his wife and kids. During the journey down the Mississippi, Huck and Jim have many unusual adventures. If you can read this review, you can read this book. The language is very easy to understand, and it is also not too long. If you want to read a good book, you should try The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, I would strongly recommend it.

Grade 6 Review

The book I just read was called The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It is the ending half to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. To understand some parts you need to have read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer but you don't have to. Both books are written by Mark Twain. This book is written like Huckleberry wrote it. It is about how Huck has ran away from home and meets up with his friend Jim. Jim is a slave and has run away with Huck. They find a raft and decide to go down the river until they come to a free state. The book goes on about the adventures Jim and Huck have going down the river. One experience they had was when they had lost each other on the river. It was foggy and when they tied up their raft and canoe the raft broke loose and went down the river. Huck followed Jim (who was on the raft) until they went on opposite sides of an island. Huck fell asleep and when he woke up he was next to the raft. He went on the raft and woke up Jim. Jim said that he thought that Huck was dead. Huck lied and said Jim had been asleep for the past ten minutes. This is a good book because the places and the characters are explained pretty good. The book is pretty interesting the whole way through. Once you have started to read it you can't put it down. If you want a book that won't disappoint you this is the one!

Grade 7 Review

My favorite book that I read so far this year was The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It was written by Mark Twain.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was very interesting. It had a lot of action. It was about a young man that loved adventure. His best friend was Tom Sawyer, and they did a lot together. The characters are great, and some are funny. An example would be when the duke comes (at least he said he was a duke) and acts like the most important man in the world.

The book is about a fourteen year old boy with an uneducated family. He lives with a widow and goes to school. Huck gets mad at his father. So, he thinks of a plan to escape from father. When father goes to town, Huck puts his plan to work. He heads down the Mississippi River toward freedom. He uses a raft and builds a leanto on it. He goes down the great Mississippi. The entire plot is about Huck trying not to be caught and to stay alive in the wild. He runs into obstacles along the way. The book tells how they handle the problems. There are friends, strangers, and people who help Huck along the way.

If you want to read a book that is actually a good book, I have the book for you. You won't regret reading The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn.
