A Separate Peace

Grade 7 Review

A classic I would recommend to another person is A Separate Peace by John Knowles. It is about two friends who go to the same boarding school. It tells about their problems between each other, their family, and with themselves. I think it is good because it deals with problems that could really happen to you. For example, one person didn't want to go to fight in the war because his friends didn't believe in him. He finally decided to go because he believed in himself and realized that he had to believe in himself. I also think it was interesting to find out what would happen to the characters, as they went their separate ways. If you like books that have a lot to do with real problems that could happen to you, I recommend you read A Separate Peace by John Knowles.

Grade 7 Review

A very interesting classic that I read this year was A Separate Peace. This book was written by a wonderful author named John Knowles. A Separate Peace was a book that everyone should read. The book was about two boys named Gene and Phineas. They both went to Devon boarding School and the two boys were best friends. Through out the book they had to worry about the war that had just started and about having the drafting age changed to seventeen, because then they would have to fight in the war. Gene was a very smart boy, and he wasn't into sports as much as Phineas was. So school was kind of all Gene had in his life, but Phineas tries to turn things around. The only thing that Phineas had was the sports. When ever he went to just try a sport he was just awesome at it and Gene was amazed. Between their differences though they still found the time to help each other in their hardest times with family and with the war. This book shows that you can stay friends with someone no matter what happens with war and with school. If you really want to book that is written with two boys who have a caring and understanding relationship you won't regret reading this book. Another thing is that if you want to read about a dare devil and a genius than you will love this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone. It's a definite 10.
