Modules for
Basic Nursing Skills Vol 1 and Vol 2 Janice
Rider, Rn Ellis, et al / Paperback / Published 1996; Studyworld Choice Award
as the best clinical reference for the CPNE; excellent descriptions of procedures (even
the very basic ones) with lots of good illustrations of the procedure and equipment; pages
are perforated and 3-hole-punched so you can tear out the ones that apply to the areas of
care and place them in a special "CPNE Study Binder" for quick reference. Every
single procedure for each area of care is included in one of the two volume set!! There
are several procedures included that you won't need to know for the CPNE, but you will
need to know how to hang blood as an RN, won't you? These books are about $30 each
(cheaper than a set of videos!) But, for those of you who think this is too much to spend,
try the Springhouse reference below:
Fundamental
Nursing Procedures (Springhouse Notes) Rita Tobler / Paperback / Published 1991; a
good resource for the CPNE; especially for those of you without a lot of clinical
experience; and even for those with med-surg experience - reminds you of the "right
way" instead of the "hurry up and get it done way" we're so used to!
Health
Assessment (Springhouse Notes) Elizabeth D. Metzgar, Patricia Polfus / Paperback /
Published 1994; this is also listed in the "review books" section below because
it is a concise summary
