Your host, Jimmy Sung, is a multi-faceted, detail-oriented entrepreneur. He was born in Shanghai, China, the third child, and only son of an industrious businessman who was a former general in Chiang Kai Shek's army. The young family emigrated to Taiwan to build a new life off the mainland. Articulate and well-spoken today, Jimmy Sung studied English early on, and graduated from Taiwan's Christ's College with a degree in English literature; which has proved to be an excellent background for his life's journey.
Adventurous and ambitious, his destiny continued to unfold when he emigrated to the United States in 1974, taking a restaurant job in New York City. The enigmatic restaurant world proved to be his true calling as Jimmy Sung steadily worked his way to Lotus Eaters Fifth, and then Peng Teng. At Peng Teng, beginning as a waiter, he was promoted to captain, and then to general manager, a post he held for five years. This in-depth, on-the-job experience, proved to be an invaluable learning investment, for when Jimmy Sung left Peng Teng, he left to start his own restaurant.
A dynamic leader in the Chinese-American community, Jimmy Sung is the vice-president of the Chinese Restaurant Association of Greater New York. Now a United States Citizen, he maintains ties with China and Taiwan, and treasures his heritage of family, culture, art and fine dining.
