"Believe the hype" say most of the 2,000 people who rated this year old Gramercy American, "superlative" food by Tom Colicchio ( ex Mondarian ), "unrushed", "attitude-free" service, supervised by Danny Meyer ( Union Square Cafe ) and "cozy", "colonial" tavern decor make it a "hit"; to avoid waiting for a reservation of if the $56 prix fixe dinner seems pricey, try the less expensive casual Tavern Room without reserving; even critics who say its "good, but not great" recognize that it's steadily improving.

Gramercy Tavern Description:

Gramercy Tavern is a stunning American interpretation of a warm, luxurious restaurant often found in the European countryside. Superior cuisine, wines and hospitality are the trademark of this wood-beamed, antique filled restaurant located in the historic heart of Manhattan's vibrant Flatiron district.

Dining Options:

Main Dining Room: Chef Tom Colicchio's contemporary American cooking relies heavily on seasonal ingredients and is presented in simple refinement in three comfortable, elegant dining rooms. Both an a al carte and a 3-course fixed price menu ($33) are available at lunch, and a 3-course fixed price menu for dinner ($56), as well as three special chef's tasting menus. Gramercy Tavern's acclaimed service professionals are highly knowledgeable in food, wine and cheese and welcome our guests with warm, genteel hospitality.

Private Dining Room: Gramercy Tavern's Private Dining Room seats up to 22, offers a specially designed seasonal menu, and is available for lunch and dinner. This flower-filled, wood-beamed room is the ultimate urban escape and is an ideal locale to entertain business or personal occasions. "Once you close the door of Gramercy Tavern's inner sanctuary, you feel as if you were dining in a millionaires Vermont cabin," quotes the New York Times in a recent article about private dining rooms. The room may be reserved up to one year in advance.

The Tavern: For a more casual alternative, the Tavern serves rustic fare from our wood-burning grill continuously from noon until 11:00 PM. It's a user-friendly option for an informal business lunch, a late-afternoon snack, or a light meal either before or after theatre. "It's hard to imagine better inexpensive food in a more congenial place than it the tavern portion of Gramercy Tavern," states Eric Asimov in the New York Times. 20 wines by the glass and half-glass and eight draft microbrewed beers are available.
