Restaurant Description: Gaylord India Restaurant offers a unique luncheon or dining experience to the San Franciscan and the San Francisco visitor. Situated atop Ghirardelli Square, our spacious lower and upper level dining rooms open onto a spectacular view of San Francisco Bay, the Marin Headlands and the Berkeley Hills. Since our inception in 1976, Gaylord in Ghirardelli has been consistently rated among the Top Ten Indian Restaurants and among the first class restaurants in America. India's cuisine is a combination of fragrantly subtle spices. The delicate, yet pungent, spices are as varied as India's climate and as exotic as her people. We specialize in North Indian cuisine and the centuries old style of Tandoori (clay oven) cooking. Meats, fowl and seafood are cooked quickly in the 1000 degree heat of the ovens and served sizzling, along with mouth watering breads. The curry kitchen produces magnificent dishes, including an array of vegetarian fare. We continue to receive national acclaim. Elegant decor with potted palms, chippendale style chairs and upholstered banquettes complement the views of the water to create a warm and romantic setting.
